Unleash your inner hero over at SciFi.com! While surfing around the “Who Wants to be a Superhero” website, I noticed that they just released a superhero generator a few days ago!

Go Generate a Hero Today!

A group of dedicated fans have taken on the task of collection content about the Marvel and DC universe so that fans have an easy place to go when they want to research their favorite characters, story lines and even artwork.

The Marvel Database Project now has over 23,000 articles and over 21,000 images.
The DC Database Project has almost 9,000 articles and over 6,000 images.

Head on over there if you’ve got time to kill or need inspiration for your next adventure or character design!

What?! G.I.Jow? HeroMachine? Together?!

I’m not sure I need to say anything else about this! Jeff Herbert brings us a version of HeroMachine to fill our nostalgic needs. Go make a hero today! G. I. JOEEEEEE!

I’m not sure what publicity initiative this was done for; I did some digging but couldn’t even find a website for Newsday Inc. It matters not though because the superhero lover community is just as happy with a new generator for their last minute character design needs. HeroMachine does it again with this “cyber journalist” edition. Enjoy!

HeroMachine was one of the first hero generators online. It’s success was unquestionable within superhero fan communities. Throughout the years Jeff Herbert created a few more off-shoots for clients using the same framework. This one here was done for Stan Lee… so how couldn’t it be a good one?! Check it out!

Have you ever been frustrated by an inability to see a character you’ve imagined? Are you constantly asking (all right, begging) your “artist friend” for an illustration because you can’t draw a straight line with a ruler? Now your frustrations are over! Thanks to the HeroMachine, you can dynamically create your own customized character portrait. With intuitive controls and high-quality illustrations, the HeroMachine offers millions of possible combinations that will bring your imagination alive.

Here is a new resource for comic book and action/adventure writers. It’s simply an alphabetical listing of “key” words that may be helpful in creating acronyms for storyline organizations, entities and technology. Sure, the end result may not mean much, but then again what really was the significance of “United Network Command for Law Enforcement” other than the fact that it spelled out “UNCLE”?

Looking to come up with a spiffy little acronym for that clandestine society of villains in your comic book? Then just pick the word you want to turn into an acronym and start mixing and matching words in the listing with the corresponding letters. There’s even a little on-screen notepad to jot down your acronymic creations. (One tip: try to avoid words which contain the letters J, K, X, Y and Z.) It’s easy to do and only takes a few minutes to come up with some snazzy sounding stuff.
