No ordinary gourds, these vegetative terrors are famous for menacing a certain disbelieving schoolteacher. Each is carved in the likeness of a wickedly grinning beast, and glow from within with supernatural fire. The Pumpkins’ power is awful indeed – held in hand, they can emit a piercing, unearthly shriek that instills terror in the stoutest hearts. When hurled, the Pumpkin homes unerringly on its target, the spirit-fueled flames within blazing with supernatural heat capable of melting solid steel. So fierce are the flames of the Pumpkins that they reach even into the realm of the incorporeal, making them a potent weapon against mortal and spirit alike. Read more »

This comic book is anything but an innocent collector’s item – from its silver-foil cover depicting the monstrous main character, to acid-free paper peculiarly stained with what might be blood, to the mysterious (and illegible) signatures of the writer and artist, this particular comic book is a very limited edition. Its origins are unknown, surrounded by dark mystery; some say that the Special Edition was written by a damned soul, that its extremely limited press run cost the lives of a dozen men in peculiar accidents, that the art within is enchanted. Of the rumors, only the last can truly be confirmed. Read more »

Named for the bloodthirsty Egyptian goddess of war, vengeance and pestilence, the Scarab of Sekhmet is a true horror. A finely-crafted scarab beetle of gold, enamel and faience, the Scarab is often used as a cloak clasp or concealed within a pocket. Hidden beneath the ornate exterior, however, is a terrifying prospect indeed – with a simple command, the Scarab transforms into a flesh-eating scarab of monstrous proportions. A second command unleashes the amulet’s fury in a plague of biting, blinding insects. Read more »

On the surface, this item appears to be little more than an especially lustrous and lengthy wig, available in a veritable rainbow of colors. When worn, it becomes a potent weapon – its enchanted locks apportion themselves as appendages capable of lifting tremendous weights and smashing into foes with the strength of titans. Creative users have even been known to ensnare enemies in the wig’s steely strands to slowly strangle the life from them. Read more »

Known by many names and contained in a variety of vessels, this substance can never be mistaken for ordinary sand – its grains glow with golden, red and blue light, never ceasing to move and shift. The Sands’ power is legendary, allowing its possessor control over the flow of time and fate. A small pinch of the Sands can take its user outside the flow of time, granting him incredible speed of thought and action. A handful can freeze entire areas in space and time or unleash the ravages of age on those it touches. The Sands can even be used to transport oneself through time and space. The Sands must be used sparingly, however; overuse can turn on the user. As causality breaks down, he risks being trapped forever in paradox. Read more »

Not a single weapon, but two, this pair of artifacts hails from the bloody killing ground of Thermopylae, and is said to have drunk much Persian blood during the legendary battle. Believed to be the personal weapons of the famed Spartan king Leonidas, the Arsenal is simple enough – a lethal short sword, the xiphos, accompanies a hoplite thrusting spear. Both weapons have become far more than they originally were; a fine example of so-called ‘natural’ enchantment. Read more »

Describing this weapon is difficult, as its appearance changes according to the desire of the wielder. It has been described at different times as an axe, a wicked carving knife, a dizzying array of swords, clubs, even a peculiarly-fitted leather glove with blades over the fingers. Whatever its appearance, the Marque’s purpose is clear enough: to kill. The Marque not only attacks the flesh of its victims, but rends their very life-force and seeks their weak points; even the mightiest are hard-pressed to survive its wrath. The Marque also utterly destroys evidence of its possessor’s presence, often leaving midnight detectives and the authorities alike puzzled as to who may have committed the foul deed … Read more »

Several varieties of enchanted clay exist; however, Mistress Hecate keeps only three of the known varieties in the Catacombs. The first is commonly known as Adam’s Clay. Rumored to be the substance of which the first golem was created, Adam’s Clay can be shaped in mere moments into the semblance of a human. Although the construct thus created lacks true intelligence and will of its own, it is a frightening opponent in battle, immune to the frailties of flesh and possessed of superhuman durability and strength.

On first glance, this weapon appears to be an exquisitely-carved but otherwise mundane yew bow in the medieval fashion. Close examination by one schooled in the Hermetic arts gives some few hints as to its true nature – alchemical symbols for the bodily humors are etched into the bow, along with a peculiar set of sigils surrounding each. In the hands of one that knows its secrets, the bow’s attacks can be far more deadly than mundane arrows – the Bow of the Humors is capable of manipulating the bodies of its targets, inflicting crippling pain or pleasure, weakness, even seizures that leave the victim paralyzed. The bow is also capable of more subtle manipulations of someone’s emotions, provoking anger, despair, joy; any emotion can be incited, leaving the victim usually unaware that their emotions are not their own. From medieval times and before, the badge has been a symbol of those who serve and protect, those in authority; the forces of law and order. In more modern days, the badge has taken on an almost mythic quality – hard-boiled detectives flash their shields to frighten criminals, police use it to establish their authority and maintain the peace … even the sheriffs of dusty Western towns bore their battered stars as protection and symbol.

In the mystic world, when something is believed in for long and thoroughly enough, perception truly becomes reality. The badges presented here have all been imbued with power through belief, action … and occasionally blood.
